News » Flying Start @ Redruth's fun event with observations, marshmallows and fire!!!

The children and parents from Flying Start @ Redruth also held a winter's social event last week, which sounded like a great evening as there was even marshmallows and hot chocolate!

Flying Start have recently been looking at ways to further develop the fantastic partnerships that we have built with parents' so we have decided to try and encourage parents to observe their children at home, so they can contribute to recording their learning and development.

The staff team at Redruth decided to invite the parents in to support them to understand how they can contribute to their children's learning stories. They also displayed some of the activity ideas the parents could try at home with their children.

 As an additional bit of fun and to help our families prepare for the winter ahead the staff had an open fire, where the children (with a grown up of course!) could toast marshmallows and enjoy warm drinks like hot chocolate with whipped cream. Everyone had a fantastic time despite the freezing cold weather! 

The little boy captured above with the Jenna, Team Leader in the Day nursery, was concentrating so much because he was worried about burning his marshmallow!
