The children from Flying Start @ Redruth have been helping the staff replenish the huge outdoor sandpit in their garden!

The children were very excited when the delivery of sand arrived and the staff used it as an opportunity to encourage the children to work together, participate in some problem solving and develop their negotiation skills.

There were lots of rich, detailed discussions about how they would move the large bags of sand from one area to another.

The children were also supported to negotiate who would take part in the various jobs to get the sand in place, such as moving, opening and emptying the bags.

The children then enjoyed some digging, raking, mark-making and then they even buried a member of staff in the sandpit!

It just goes to show you what good teamwork can do!
