The children from Flying Start @ Redruth have been very busy during their cooking club this week!

They made vegetable soup with the vegetables they had grown in their nursery garden. The children planted the vegetables and have cultivated them and watched them grow until they were ready for cooking.

This was a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn about their natural environment, see how vegetables grow and experience using their own grown produce when cooking to make food that they can eat.

The children then practised their cutting skills by chopping up the vegetables and were given lots of opportunities to talk about the cooking equipment and vegetables they were using. The children even helped to wash up the utensils, although they said that they enjoyed eating the soup more!

This cooking club takes place weekly at Flying Start Redruth and the children are quickly becoming  little chefs....who knows what they will cook next week!
